Don was born and raised in Southern Utah. After marrying his high school sweetheart, JoAnn, they moved to Salt Lake City. He graduated from LDS Business College in accounting and business administration, and spent several years in banking, eventually transferring to St. George with Zions Bank. Don has always loved big rigs so when the opportunity came in 1988, he helped co-found DATS Trucking. He attributes DATS' success to an amazing, nearly 40-year business partnership with Stan Snow, strong family support, mixed with tremendous employees and loyal customers.
In addition to his business success, Ipson has served in Utah's House of Representatives and Senate for 16 years. He was a major advocate for Dixie State College's elevation to University status and earning honors like the Dixie State College Distinguished Service and Excellence in Education awards. Ipson is a champion for both Washington County and the State of Utah. He serves as the Vice Chair of the Executive Appropriations Committee, helping oversee Utah's budget.
Committed to community welfare, Ipson and his family have made substantial donations to Dixie State University and local community charities. He and JoAnn have four sons, all Dixie State alumni, ten grandchildren, and (almost) nine great-grandchildren.
I’m an aggressive problem solver and a learner. If elected, I promise that I will apply my expertise, energy, and creative problem-solving to the county commission to get things done.

as the Custodian of all land records. He is in his 4 th year as County Recorder where he is applying the 30
plus years of experience he obtained working in the Land Title Insurance business, searching the records
of the Recorder’s Office.
By focusing on the importance of accurate land records, he and his amazing staff provide an incredible
value to the public, because private land ownership is a privilege that is so important and vital to us as
citizens of this great County, State and Country. He was also very instrumental in creating and
implementing Washington County Property Watch, a free program for the public, providing notification
to subscribers when any document has been recorded against the subscribed account(s).
When Gary is not working as the Recorder, he loves to spend his time with his wife, kids and incredible
grandkids hunting, fishing, camping, riding horses and he also loves to play Pickle Ball.
It has been an honor representing Southern Utah. I continue to promote and support policy that will strengthen faith, family, and our conservative way of life.

Joann Brinton is running for the State School Board to raise the bar in Utah’s education system. Joann will work to return to a focus on academic excellence, more decision making at the most local level, giving parents a greater voice in how their children are educated, and ensuring that curriculum includes the foundational values that are important to Southern Utah. She will push back against harmful agendas that are creeping into Utah through the Wasatch Front. Joann wants every student to have opportunities to succeed and be prepared to enter the workforce and contribute to society.
Joann is a resident of Washington County. She has a history teaching degree from Brigham Young University. She has experience teaching in public and charter schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Phil Lyman is the owner and principal of a Certified Public Accounting firm, in San Juan County, that specializes in business startup and development. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management, and a master’s degree in tax from the University of Utah. Phil and his wife Jody reside in Blanding. They have 5 children and 17 grandchildren. When Phil is not advocating on behalf of Utahns, he enjoys pushing dirt on his D8dozer and skid steer loader. Phil has been instrumental in the creation of several healthcare related businesses as well as energy development focusing on oil, gas, hydrogen, and nuclear. Prior to being elected to Utah House of Representatives, Phil served as a San Juan County Commissioner from 2011 to 2018. As commissioner, he chaired the Seven County Infrastructure where he pioneered the startup of the San Rafael Energy Research Center.
He led a peaceful legal protest in 2014 which led to politically motivated criminal prosecution by the BLM and the US Department of Justice. He served 10 days in the Purgatory Correctional facility in Hurricane. He quips that he was the only state legislator in the country who had a parole officer (which was true). Lyman was pardoned by President Trump on December 20, 2020. He has an in-depth understanding of taxes, the economy, business, the weaponization of government, and what it means to have a republican form of government. Phil served in the Utah House of Representatives from 2018 until present, representing San Juan, Grand, Emery, Wayne, Garfield, Kane, and prior to redistricting, Beaver, Piute, and part of Sevier Counties. Phil was also the chair of the House Conservative Caucus for 4 years and created the popular Yellowcake Caucus which has been active since his first week in the legislature. It has been his experience in the legislature, his commitment to the sovereignty of all Utahns, that inspired his run for governor.
A fellow resident of southern Utah, Phil knows the issues that are important to Washington County. In the legislature he voted against the Dixie State name change, and continues to support our historic state flag. In addition to universal policy priorities like stabilizing the housing market and standing between the woke agenda and our children, Phil will fight to protect our public lands from federal overreach. He will reduce taxes across the board including on social security to ease the burden on our seniors. Finally, he values the importance of local control, to the extent possible, on important issues like water.

"Ranked as the 9th most effective Republican in Congress, John has delivered for Utah. Focusing on energy independence, fighting reckless spending in both parties, standing up to communist China’s aggression, protecting farmers and ranchers from over-regulation, and defending Utah’s land from federal overreach—he’s been busy. Before Congress, John led a company that designed and built shooting ranges. This real world experience taught him what it’s like to successfully build something from the ground up. As Provo mayor, he cut the city’s budget by over 8% and earned a 94% approval rating from residents. He understands that running a leaner government is important, and he uses that as an example of how the federal budget should also operate. John’s 6 years of seniority in the U.S. House will follow him to the Senate where seniority really matters. Utah won’t have to start over. John now wants to take his unique experience and proven track record of getting things done for Utahns to the U.S. Senate. He believes that Utah families deserve to be heard and will continue to work hard every day to make Utah an even better place. As our Senator, he’ll keep getting things done for Utah."
