BJ Judy
My name is Elwyn Brant Judy II. I go by BJ. I was born and raised in American Samoa to Tai Falaula Tautua'a and Elwyn Brant Judy, and am the youngest of three. I graduated from Leone High School in 1998 and moved to Salem, Oregon, where I attended Chemeketa Community College. I moved here to work and pay bills while my older sister attended law school, so she would not have to work during her first year.
In 1999, I made the move to warmer, drier weather, St. George, Utah! I attended Dixie College and was an official Rebel!
I met my wife, Amberly DeMille, at a Dixie College football game. We dated for a few years and have been married since 2003. We have five children: Maili Tai, Semisi Talon, Sekonaia Manu Ofahiki Brant, Mataiasi Kendrick, and Kiana Falaula. My family is my everything.
I began my career in Law Enforcement in 2004 with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and this has been my home ever since. I started as a civilian and earned my BCO and LEO certifications. I have worked in our jail and patrol divisions. I have had the opportunity to work in housing, booking, work crews, patrol, gang unit, drug task force, and investigations. I believe the experience in each of these areas has brought me to my current appointment, Chief Deputy
over the Patrol Division. Over the past 21 years with this office, I have learned we are successful when we work together towards a common goal.
This is my home. I want this office, the members of this law enforcement family, the citizens of Washington County, and those who visit this great County often to be able to enjoy the freedoms this great nation was founded on. I believe that hard work, service, a desire to do good, and putting family and faith first are a recipe for success.
I look forward to meeting each of you and showing you my sincere desire to lead this office with integrity and to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America.

Barry Golding
Dedicated to Republican ideals and strong family values, Barry Golding has served Washington County with integrity, honor, and humility for over thirty-five years in law enforcement. Beginning as a patrol officer, Barry steadily promoted through the ranks at the St. George Police Department—from first-line supervision to upper-level management and executive leadership— ultimately serving as Captain of Investigations before retiring in 2011.
He returned to public service in 2012 as Investigations Bureau Chief at the Washington County Attorney’s Office and, in 2021, was appointed Undersheriff of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Barry is now the Acting Sheriff for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
A U.S. Army veteran, Barry has completed over 5,000 hours of law enforcement continued education and training, served 12 years on SWAT as a Sniper Team Leader, graduated from the FBI Academy (Session 226), and led the Washington County Critical Incident Task Force for over two decades.
Above all, Barry is a devoted family man who credits his values, work ethic, and commitment to service to the support of his family. He understands that strong families build strong communities and is dedicated to keeping Washington County safe, secure, and thriving for future generations.
